The route of this 5-day expedition stretches from mountain to desert through some of the most remote and rugged wildlands in southeast Utah. We will ford muddy rivers swallowed by high canyon corridors and camp beside ancient cottonwoods. Solitude is the norm in the Dirty Devil – a tributary of the Colorado River, located adjacent to the Maze district of Canyonlands National Park. We walk an average of 6 miles per day, dropping into the canyon on the first day and climbing out of the canyon on day five.

Our Wild Dharma Practice will begin at the campground in Hanksville with an introduction to Zen practice in the wild and an orientation to the route.
Arrival should be no later than 3 pm at the campground. We will come out of the field on April 27 and be back at the campground at approx. 2 pm. We will either have a lunch snack available or eat lunch at the campground restaurant. Please plan your departure from Hanksville accordingly (between 2-4 pm).
