New Year's Seminar 2027

We invite you to join Crestone Mountain Zen Center's Annual New Year's Seminar as we gather to reflect on the year that has passed and welcome the year ahead. Through Dharma talks, discussion, practice, and time together with the sangha, the seminar offers an opportunity to begin the New Year grounded in shared practice and community.

The seminar will be led by Seishin Laurie Nusbaum Sensei and other senior practice leaders. Throughout our time together, we will sit zazen, participate in teachings and discussions in the mornings and afternoons, and share in the work of the seminar and the Center.

On New Year's Eve, we will gather for a festive dinner and dance celebration before returning to the zendo to sit together through the final hours of the year. As midnight approaches, participants will take turns in the traditional ceremony of ringing the densho 108 times, bringing the old year to a close and welcoming the new one.

We will conclude our celebration the following morning with a New Year's Day brunch.

‍

What kind of clothing is appropriate for the zendo or for meditation?

In the meditation hall (zendo), we wear dark clothing that covers at least the shoulders and knees. In general, we recommend loose-fitting clothing that is not too tight or even constricting.
